There is something I noticed about the interest rate. It was given 6.625% and for some reason the extra points were used after increasing again the rate to over 7% to make it match. It was a little bit frustrating.

Bill and his team were extremely diligent when guiding us through the mortgage application process. They helped us identify all the necessary documentation and information required to see the process through to conclusion. Uploading documents securely was not an issue. It was quick and easy. In our personal situation, we were going to be out of the country for an extended time and our communications were limited. Bill and his team worked with us to get the vast majority of the process done prior to our leaving so when we returned, all we had to do was finalize a few additional items. They also explained the entire closing procedure and Bill was present to ensure there were no issues. All in all, we were thoroughly pleased with how smoothly the entire process worked.

No surprises. Went smoothly

This was not an enjoyable experience but I don't have a back button to write this. The overall process went well although it took longer than we thought it would. We had confusing information about how much $ we would need to bring to closing (initially $68,000.00) and we took a distribution from our retirement account that was $30,000.00 too much (we closed with $37,000.00) . This money could have still been invested and that was our preference. Not knowing the amount required for closing until the night before was very costly for us (taxes and interest lost). Bill was very attentive both by phone and email and his assistant, Diane McAllister was very pleasant to work with.

Bill Katsoolias was a real pro and I also enjoyed working with Diane McAllister. Our financial planner Molly Gullman made a real difference as well since she created the SBLOC that saved us from having to pay capital gains taxes on the gains from selling equities. You have a great group of folks who work together very well.

We financed with Wintrust primarily due to positive experiences we've had with Tammy Karlstrand over the years. She has been very helpful on a couple of occasions. Wintrust also has a reputation for quality and while the rate was not as competitive as we would have liked, we were willing to accept a higher rate based upon this reputation and our experiences with Tammy. Bill was great. He kept everything on track and made sure we were up-to-date with the process. This permitted to us to close much earlier than originally estimated. The only hiccup was at the closing when the title company was missing a document, but Bill worked to get the issue resolved.
