It was a pleasure working with Leon Liss. I'd give him a 10 out of 10. Working with Newrez as a whole was confusing at times. Because of all of the different entities involved with my refinance within Newrez, I didn't always know what was happening. Why I gave Newrez an overall 8 out of 10: My home insurance is through Progressive. I forwarded all of the required documents and yet when I went to close a different insurance company was listed on my closing documents as my dwelling insurer. I never intended to switch companies for dwelling coverage. Might have been an oversight, then again maybe not. I've owned this house for almost 25 years. My replacement stove/range was sitting in my living room. Part of the cash back to borrower (me) was to do the electrical to install that stove, yet I was required to have the electrical done to qualify for the loan. Doesn't pass the common sense test. I was told this was a refinance loan - it was treated as a new mortgage loan. The entire process finally closed during week 7. Far too long. Supposedly Newrez is the company that owns my Shellpoint 2nd mortgage, yet Newrez could not see my last 3 monthly payments (why?)??? Beyond that my previous primary mortgage holder (Midland Mortgage) could easily offer me a refi on my primary mortgage (yrs ago) over the phone, cut my interest rate & cut 5 years off my mortgage with them. Beyond that? My house appraised for $245k, yet I had to jump through hoops to get this to close. Make it easier.

Leon and Vanessa were excellent. The underwriter and their ridiculous request should have cost Newrez my business. If I wasn't close to closing I would have retracted my application. To ask for a bank statement to show were a 5 thousand credit card payment came from. That is insulting. The month prior I made a 7k payment. My credit card is a Capitol one business card with a 30,000 credit limit. I have made payments of 20k some months. To top that off, I was told that I might be able to redact my routing and account numbers in 2025 is insane!

They explained everything throughly to me

Great communication along the way. Reached out when something was needed. The ONLY concern we had was the numbers at the Closing were NOT what we were told just 2 days earlier so someone error'd when getting the final numbers for payoff, etc. Other than that, a smooth transaction and greatly appreciated both Mr. Liss and Heather's assistance. I had hoped more of the equity in home would have resulted in enough to do updates to home.

It would have been good to been more clear on how the funding was distributed. I thought I would get a big check and pay off what I want so had I known, I would have asked to pay off different creditors. But overall, team was super nice and helpful.
